Sadie came to us when her previous owner could no longer care for her. At 4 years old, she had never seen a veterinarian, farrier, or received any care beyond feeding. She had developed a swelling under her right eye that was present and growing for nearly a year before she came to our care. She was promptly evaluated by Texas A&M and required a CT scan to better visualize her sinus cavity and teeth. The results showed that she had several severe dental malformations as well as a tooth fracture with 2 teeth invading her sinus cavity- causing multiple abscesses and sinusitis. Thanks to generous donations, expert surgeons and dentists at Texas A&M performed two surgeries to flush her sinuses, pull the diseased teeth, and repair the oronasal fistula. Due to the complexity of her case, she requires frequent dental care in an attempt to prevent further complications but she is pain free and will not face neglect again in her lifetime. She was adopted by a well respected ranch in Oklahoma, where she enjoys her herd, never ending pasture, and lots of alfalfa.
