Raven’s story is still unfolding, as our newest intake. She originated from an auction and came to us positive for influenza and underweight. She was treated with inhalant steroids, but despite this, her cough and respiratory effort were not improving. Once her quarantine was complete, she underwent a respiratory workup which revealed a diagnosis of heaves (or asthma). She has completed a 40 day course of steroids and bronchodilators which greatly improved her symptoms. However, she still requires environmental and feeding considerations to keep her comfortable. As the warmer months approach, we will be actively monitoring her symptoms and decide whether or not she will need to be placed in a better climate for her condition. Regardless of this, she is safe and happy.
